Powerful DC jack for in-board mounting

040015fr_nlSUYIN's two-pin, right-angle DC jack with the model designation 040015FR003XX06ZL provides a power connection for external plug-in power supplies used with stationary or mobile devices of all kinds - from netbooks to telecommunications and audio systems all the way to electronic toys. Designed for in-board mounting, this right-angle through-hole technology (THT) jack with overall dimensions of 13.90 x 9.90 x 9.0 (L x W x H in mm) mounts inside the printed circuit board (PCB) to save space. This reduces its height above the PCB surface to just 2,55 mm. Equipped with a spring-loaded switch contact and a center pin with a diameter of 2.5 mm, this jack accepts a DC plug connector with a diameter of 5.5 mm. Key electrical specifications include the current/voltage rating of 9 A / 20 V (DC) per pin, the guaranteed number of 5,000 mating cycles, the contact resistance of 30 mΩ (initial), and the insulation resistance of 500 MΩ (initial). The connectors are supplied in tape & reel packaging for automatic placement.

SUYIN's specialty is adapting connectors to meet customers' exact requirements while satisfying the needs of the given application in terms of form and function. To do this, SUYIN - as a Taiwanese company with production locations and development teams in China, but with technical support, service, sales and logistics teams based in Germany for its European customers - draws on both standardized subcomponents and on the tremendous expertise that it has developed in recent decades in areas such as industrial, automotive and communications applications.

This DC jack, for example, can also be modified to meet customer-specific requirements, including versions with a vertical (straight) design, SMT processing, a different center-pin diameter, signal LEDs or changes to many other parameters.

Fast, capable and affordable: customized problem solvers for board-to-board (BTB) connectors

btbSUYIN offers a broad range of standard PCB connectors and board-to-board connectors. This begins with versions featuring very simple contact configurations and extends all the way to highly complex configurations covering a wide variety of pitches - from fine pitch (0.5 mm) to 2.54 mm and higher pitches. Nevertheless, in the European market, the demand for customized solutions is growing - especially for applications in telecommunications, industrial electronics and automotive technology.

These requirements are driven by the fact that development work is increasingly design oriented, and by the need to carefully implement the product designer's vision with regard to space restrictions for the BTB connectors, the way that the connectors are placed on the PCBs themselves, and the way that the boards are placed in the device housings.

SUYIN is one of the few East Asian connector vendors that are able to realize custom developments or modifications at absolutely competitive prices - whether the connectors are for use in a router, in industrial automation control, or in a car's interior lighting. When it comes to the development of customer-specific PCB connections, SUYIN has specialized in fully adapting the housing and functionality to match customer needs. Some of the key variables that can be customized include:

  • Housing design
  • Processing technology: THT/SMT/THR
  • Pin length
  • Contact plating
  • Special specifications regarding the product lifespan or the number of mating cycles
  • Custom packaging solution

Based on 3D drawings and animations, customers can assess the connector design during the early phases of the project, and delivery of rapid-prototyping samples is available upon request. Furthermore, by applying failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) methodologies, software simulations make it possible to examine important parameters and eliminate potential sources of faults.

Depending on the model type, development of a new product is possible beginning with series volumes as low as 100,000 pieces per year.
